Blog: Updating Key Congressional Races

This post  relates to key congressional races in the nationwide struggle against Tea Party fanaticism.  Remember the  antecedent Republicans campaign slogan: Win one for  the Gipper.  Here is a modernized alternative adapted to continuation of the policy changes introduced by President Obama rather than reverting to the self destructive pathways of Tea Party fanaticism. In my personal view the election of sufficient number of Tea Party congressional candidates will produce in modernity the equivalent of Back to Normalcy

that destroyed implementation of President Woodrow Wilson’s reconstruction agenda after the end of World War I. The end result there was National Socialism and Adolph Hitler emergent from the ashes of a war devastated European continent. The abdication  then of global responsibilities by the Republican ancestors of the Tea Party fanatics also assisted the corresponding growth of Asiatic fascism in Japan.
Continue implementation of the Obama Agenda rather than revert to Tea Party fascism.

“Bob

Tonight marks the end of the American combat mission in Iraq.

As a candidate for this office, I pledged to end this war responsibly.  And, as President, that is what I am doing.

Since I became Commander-in-Chief, we’ve brought home nearly 100,000 U.S. troops. We’ve closed or turned over to Iraq hundreds of our bases.

As Operation Iraqi Freedom ends, our commitment to a sovereign, stable, and self-reliant Iraq continues. Under Operation New Dawn, a transitional force of U.S. troops will remain to advise and assist Iraqi forces, protect our civilians on the ground, and pursue targeted counterterrorism efforts.

By the end of next year, consistent with our agreement with the Iraqi government, these men and women, too, will come home.

Ending this war is not only in Iraq’s interest — it is in our own. Our nation has paid a huge price to put Iraq’s future in the hands of its people. We have sent our men and women in uniform to make enormous sacrifices. We have spent vast resources abroad in the face of several years of recession at home.

We have met our responsibility through the courage and resolve of our women and men in uniform.

In seven years, they confronted a mission as challenging and as complex as any our military has ever been asked to face.

Nearly 1.5 million Americans put their lives on the line. Many returned for multiple tours of duty, far from their loved ones who bore a heroic burden of their own. And most painfully, more than 4,400 Americans have given their lives, fighting for people they never knew, for values that have defined our people for more than two centuries.

What their country asked of them was not small. And what they sacrificed was not easy.

For that, each and every American owes them our heartfelt thanks.

Our promise to them — to each woman or man who has donned our colors — is that our country will serve them as faithfully as they have served us. We have already made the largest increase in funding for veterans in decades. So long as I am President, I will do whatever it takes to fulfill that sacred trust.

Tonight, we mark a milestone in our nation’s history. Even at a time of great uncertainty for so many Americans, this day and our brave troops remind us that our future is in our own hands and that our best days lie ahead.

Thank you,

President Barack Obama”

Find information below about key congressional races which Democrats must win in order to implement further the Obama agenda domestically, internationally, and also deal with the global climate crisis. Financial contributions are desperately needed in key Senate and House races.
If we lose this race resign  yourself to no climate bill or energy bill emergent from Congress.

Dear Robert,

Wednesday night at 7 p.m., I’ll be debating my opponent Carly Fiorina at St. Mary’s College in the Bay Area, and I hope you’ll tune in and watch! There couldn’t be a clearer choice in this election.

And all day tomorrow, we’ll be driving towards 10,000 donations in our “100,000 Strong for Boxer” money bomb — an online fundraising effort to demonstrate our strong grassroots support.

We’ve already received more than 4,000 pledges toward our goal of 10,000 individual donations in tomorrow’s money bomb.

I thought Feingold Senate  race in WI was a done deal. Apparently not per the message below from his campaign

“Our race is now a toss-up and the election is dead even with our opponent Ron Johnson outspending us 3 to 1 on TV ads. Can you help my campaign meet our August fundraising goal and finish strong with a $20.00 contribution before tonight’s midnight deadline?

Thanks in advance for your help.

-Russ”

From Senator Robert Menendez Democratic Senatorial Campaign

“Just spoke with our online team, and we’re only $23,693 short of our August goal. We also just found out that national Republicans plan to air $3.4 million in ads to try to win the ultimate political trophy: President Obama’s old  ILSenate seat.  Nothing would give them more bragging rights than winning this seat.  Polling shows we’re in a dead heat, and your gift now will help level the playing field in this and other important races.

Click here to give $5 or more to the DSCC.

If we don’t meet this goal, we won’t have the resources to fight back against the Republican onslaught. We need our network of grassroots donors – including you – to join us in the fight. Thank you.

Sen. Bob Menendez

P.S.: Please click here to make an immediate donation. If you’d prefer, you may call 1-877-417-8807 to make a donation by phone before 9:00 p.m. ET.

Comment: Remember IL Republican US Senate candidate Congressman  Mark Kirk IL10th co-authored the Iraq War resolution so the initiation of that needless conflict is his legacy as well as that  of former President  George Bush.  If elected to the Senate Kirk will be one of the leaders who  will work tirelessly  to destroy passage of the Obama agenda and brush aside judicial appointments opposed by Tea Pary fanatics.
IL House Races.
Tonight August 31, 2010, Northside Chicago DFA (Democracy for America) hosted at Wrigley Field a fundraiser for Democratic US House Candidate IL 10th Dan Seals.  The organization adopted the Seals candidacy which means that members get credit for doing volunteer work in the Seals campaign. Two weeks ago, members including past Chair Sandra Verthein worked at the Seals Deerfield headquarters on the phone bank and also  did door to door canvassing in Glenview.
(Incidentally Northside Chicago DFA adopted one other candidate for State Rep-Daniel Biss- former  Assistant Professor of Math at University of Chicago now running for State Rep in a  legislative district overlapping both IL 9th and IL 10th. The Biss job creation program- consistent with and supportive of the Obama economic agenda- is featured on the current IL  Tenth Dems website.)

Congressman Bill Foster represents the 14th District of Illinois and is running in a very competitive race for re-election, this November.

A former businessman and physicist, Foster brings a unique and pragmatic approach to Congress.

In November he will face off against State Senator Randy Hultgren, who has been in Springfield for over a decade.  Hultgren, is an extreme conservative  who will vote with the Sarah Palin wing of the Republican Party, if elected.

Foster is in for the fight of his political life and hopes you will join him for this great event.

Thank you for your support

  1. Republican US Senate Candidate Mark Kirk 2010 Solicitation of Mamma Grizzly Bear

This comment amplifies the earlier post on Mark Kirk’s role in initiation of the Iraq War and contacts his recent solicitation of Sara Palin and her Tea Party Crowd.

Republican US Senate Candidate Mark Kirk brushed off his earlier votes in favor of new energy policies by noting he cast those votes only because of the narrow views of his IL Tenth constituents. Now adopting more of a drill baby drill perspective amenable to Mamma Grizzly Bear Sara Palin and her Tea Party fanatical supporters, Kirk may gain their support in this campaign. The opportunity to capture Obama’s IL Senate seat may be too much of a temptation for the Tea Party crowd and Mamma Grizzly Bear to pass up.

Similarly, the established fact that Candidate Kirk sought a Palin endorsement in the primary indicates that Planned Parenthood wised up and recognized Mark Kirk for the pro-lifer he always has been. In 2002, I remember well, in his debate with (openly LGBT) opponent Hank Perrit, Mark Kirk denounced research on embryonic stem cells because supposedly they could be used to clone a human being. To me, that position on embryonic stem cells represented a distinct pro-life outlook. Later, Kirk publicly at least reversed his position on this issue and admittedly gained support from researchers in the field. I suspected what he terms now as now the narrow position of his II Tenth constituents caused him earlier to flip flop and cover up the early position he advocaed in the 2002 debates with Hank Perritt.

This transcriber remembers well my discussions in 2006, 2008 with Planned Parenthood staffers who disavowed my claims that Congressman Kirk was a pro-lifer in pro-choice sheepskin. In 2008, the Sierra Club noted that Kirk supported them on the floor of the House per environmental and energy legislation. Both organizations that I still respect learned the hard way about Mark Kirk’s subterfuge on issues so important to them.

Will the fate that befell Sierra Club and Planned Parenthood 2009-10 preamble the eventual realization in the Jewish Community that Mark Kirk is no friend of the American Jewish Community or Israel? Jewish values are not supportive of dismembering the social fabric through the Bush Tax Cuts for persons of great wealth, or the racial profling of young male Muslims to combat terrorism Mark Kirk advocated in 2005. Nor is his disdain of immigrants or voting for a pay raise for himself and six times voting against raising the minimum wage at a time of economic duress. Such attitudes, will however will endear him to the Tea Party Brownshirts and their guru Mamma Grizzly Bear Sara Palin.

Find pasted below some online verification of the Kirk outreach to Mamma Grizzly/Barracuda.

I am sure that Kirk’s position on maintaining intact Don’t Ask Don’t Tell will also endear him further to Mamma Grizzly Bear. That endearment mocks the devoted military service LGBT men and women give to the nation.

    http://www.nbcchicago.com/blogs/ward-room/Mark-Kirk-Wont-Be-Marching-In-The-Pride-Parade-95111859.html

At the Jewish Federation rally for Israel downtown Chicago during the Hezbollah rocket attacks on Israel, I remember the Chairperson Jewish Federation introducing Congressman Kirk as one of Israel’s best friends in Congress. Mark Kirk co-authored the 2002-3 War Resolution that initiated the Iraq War . In the 2002 IL Tenth Congressional campaign Kirk warned more and more about weapons of mass destruction supposedly in possession of the Iraq dictator. I heard those words uttered by Kirk in his earlier 2002 debates with Hank Perritt.

According to testimony given by a terrorist expert from Singapore at a Forum sponsored in 2005 by the Jewish Federation, that ill advised conflict enabled Iran to gain hegemony in the Middle East, emboldened terrorists organizations like Hezbollah subservient to Iran, and also enabled them to hook up with Al Qaeda and improve their ability to penetrate into the Israel heartland. I deeply respect the judgement of Alexi Giannoulias, his Democratic opponent in 2010, bringing up this record that has made things so much more difficult for the beleagured State of Israel, our own nation and the Tranaatlantic Alliance.

More recently Mark Kirk stirred up more passion at Chicago Council on Foreign Affairs with his power point presentation noting the proximity of Iran to Israel and the potential launching of nuclear weapondry on missles from that retrogressive state on Israel. Iran’s nuclear R@D is a very serious issue, not amenable to any trite solution. However, Mark Kirk beating war drums caused disaster for us and others in 2002-3, and the Kirk bellicose rhetoric now redirected to Iran only will exacerbate the complexity of the current issue.

In the context of the global climate crisis now threatening to eviscerate civilization,

    http://www.pnas.org/content/early/2009/01/28/0812721106.abstract

I recall well Congressman Kirk’s legal counseling activities last decade with CEI (Competitive Enterprise Organization) when he served as Chief US. House Counsel. CEI derided the very notion of global warming, unfortunately recognized now as a bitter reality by the world’s leading climate scientists. CEI, with the active participation of US House Counsel Mark Kirk, organized in Kyoto Japan seminars to disavow the Kyoto Global Warming Treaty. That historical fact documented through CEI online press releases, will however further endear him to Tea Party fanatics.

With this past record, can anyone possibly claim that dealing with the global climate crisis will become a priority with Mark Kirk should he ever become elected US Senator from IL?

Whoever we supported in the Democratic primary, let us work resolutely to avoid the calamity of Mark Kirk occuping President Barack Obama’s IL Senate seat and plunging the globe into further chaos with his misguided policies. The latest Rausmussen poll, one of the most accurate in the nation

    http://www.rasmussenreports.com/state/illinois

has Kirk ahread by 41% to 37% with Green Party candidate at the 9% level. Guess which candidate he siphons offf votes from. Undoubtedly ours.

Remember Alexi Giannoulias, our candidate, was persuaded by Barack Obama to enter politics contrasted to Mark Kirk serving from 2000-2008 as a staunch supporter of Past President George Bush on so many issues.
Summarizing, irk beats again the war drums, advocates a return to Reaganomics as national economic policy while Giannoulias will work with President Obama oncharting fresh courses to revive our nation and deal objectively with tense international issues and the global climate crisis. Can the choice between electable candidates ever more clear?
