Move to Amend Greater Chicago Meeting

When: Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 6:30 pm

Where: Northbrook Public Library, Pollak Room, 1201 Cedar Ln., Northbrook (corner of Cedar and Cherry)

What: Move to Amend Greater Chicago members will report on the January 19th rallies to overturn Citizens United that were held in Chicago and nationwide. Discussion on coalition building success, putting a non-binding resolution on the State of Illinois ballot in 2014, and congressional moves to legislate campaign finance reform and spending limits are also on the agenda. All are invited to attend, give their input, and be part of the effort to take back democracy. Members are striving to be non-partisan because they believe recent Supreme Court decisions are harmimg every American except the very wealthiest individuals and corporations.

Mardi Gras Masquerade and Casino Night Benefits Waukegan Main Street

When: Saturday, February 9, 2013 from 6:00 – 11:00 pm

Where: Banquet Hall, The Puerto Rican Society, 150 S. Sheridan Rd., Waukegan

What: The 8th Annual Waukegan Mardi Gras Silent Auction and Casino Night will benefit Waukegan Main Street. The fundraiser features a casino and $500 cash raffle, live Jazz band, dancing, and dinner catered by Big Ed’s. An optional masked ball in a Bourbon Street setting adds to the celebration.

Tickets are $60 for members and $70 for others. Reserve a table for sponsor perks. Purchase online, or order by mail at the online ticket page.

What: Join State Representative Sam Yingling for cocktails and conversation after work.
