The “Bush's Last Day - 01.20.09”
Hat
This Bush Hat has a message that attracts
the attention of almost everyone who sees it. The responses
vary all over the lot; “Where can I get one now”,
“Can I get five to pass out at a family barbeque
by this weekend”, “I can hardly wait for January
20 in 2009 when the new president inaugurated. I’ll
buy one on your website today”, “I need eight
for a birthday party next week”, “How soon
can I get three for Christmas presents?”, “Will
you sell me the one you’re wearing?” (The
answer was YES three times).
The message evokes emotion. At the drop
of a hat (pardon the pun), people have talked about the
seven years of gross mismanagement by the Bush administration.
And that is an understatement, considering the personal
damage done to so many by so few.
We've been fighting an ill-advised war
in Iraq that we cannot win; we need to start withdrawing
from Iraq now to save the lives and maiming of our brave
and loyal volunteer military servicemen. The medical,
psychological and psychiatric treatment of surviving servicemen
must be improved, and their financial status must be improved
on a realistic, equitable and timely basis.
We need to reverse many inequitable laws
and illegal practices to:
• Restore constitutional protections;
our civil liberties including the right of habeas corpus
and protection against invasion of our privacy.
• Strengthen the Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) to restore programs which protect us from
the dangerous and life threatening effects of environmental
pollution by corporations.
• Start a federally funded crash
program to become energy independent, including a large
reduction in our use of petroleum products.
• Take immediate giant steps to
forestall irreversible global warming, to protect our
civilization from massive flooding, and the destruction
of ecosystems which can result in pestilence, health problems
and famine.
• Provide health care for everyone,
and discontinue torture which is forbidden by U.S. and
international laws.
• Improve Homeland Security and
provide realistic oversight for its vast range of responsibilities.
• Void laws that favor the very
wealthy to the detriment of the middle class and the poor.
Although this list is not all inclusive,
it’s enough to start a much needed dialogue so that
you and your friends can make an informed decision on
election day.
So, now’s the time to buy the Bush
hat for yourself, for family and friends. Enjoy it every
day to shade your eyes wherever you are, especially at
the ball game!
