Sen. Mark Begich (D-AL)
Yesterday, people of New York’s 26th Congressional District rejected the GOP’s radical plan to end Medicare as we know it, electing a Democrat in what was thought to be a safe Republican district. As one commentator put it, Kathy Hochul’s victory shows that 2012 will not be 2010. Democrats should welcome an election based on a choice between Rep. Paul Ryan’s (R-WI) budget, built on a draconian right-wing philosophy, and President Obama’s balanced approach that asks for shared sacrifice.
Sarah Palin’s Alaska hasn’t sent a Democrat to Congress (either the House or the Senate) in over thirty years, until United States Senator Mark Begich’s recent election. Join us and learn how Sen. Begich got elected in such a red state, and what Democrats in other parts of the country can do. We’ll ask him if he, like Sarah Palin, can see Russia from his house.
