Events: Rep. Scott Drury Public Forum and Panel: Should There Be Video Gambling in Highwood?

When: Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at 7:00 pm

Where: Midwest Young Artists, 878 Lyster Rd., Highwood

What: The Highwood City Council has postponed its vote on whether to legalize video gambling until November 19. Join State Representative Scott Drury, Highwood Mayor Charlie Pecaro, local business owners and invited Highwood City Council members for an opportunity to hear from community members and elected officials on all sides of this issue. The public will be able to ask questions and learn more about a decision that will impact the community for years to come. The panel of speakers continues to be expanded.

Events, TDU: Deputy Voter Registrar Training in Deerfield (Lake County residents only)

When: Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at 6:00 pm

Where: Deerfield Public Library, Meeting Room A/B, 920 Waukegan Rd., Deerfield

What: Want to help register new voters? Tenth Dems U invites you to a Deputy Voter Registrar training seminar! The seminars are conducted by the Lake County Clerk’s office and are for Lake County residents only. Let us know if you live in Cook County and want to become a Deputy Registrar – Cook County dates will be announced soon. There are certain requirements. You must be 18 years old and registered to vote in the county where the training is being held. If you live in Lake County, you need to attend a training session in Lake County. Once you are trained to register voters in the county where you live, you can register voters anywhere in Illinois. We must also submit in advance your name, residential address, a phone number and an email address.

Events: Buffalo Grove Chamber of Commerce Business Connection Expo

When Wednesday, November 13, 2013 from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm

Where: The Arboretum Club, 401 W. Half Day Rd., Buffalo Grove

What: Rep. Carol Sente will give the keynote address for the Buffalo Grove Chamber of Commerce’s Business Connection Expo. The purpose of this event is to teach small, women-owned, and minority-owned businesses how to become qualified vendors for large companies. The event will include panel discussions with Q&A, exhibits from large businesses, continental breakfast and lunch.
